It's super easy. Just follow the steps below or watch some of the above videos for examples!

1) Remove the lid and add ice to the shaker
2) Measure your ingredients using the lines inside the shaker lid, and pour them right on top of the ice.
3) Twist on the lid and shake until the cocktail is thoroughly chilled (about 10 seconds).
4) Remove the cap and pour straight through the built‑in strainer.

*.*This is because heat doesn't travel through the side wall of the shaker while you are shaking like it does on a normal shaker, so the ice is able to cool your drink significantly more. Seriously, we tested it! With a classic martini, the temperature after 10 seconds of shaking was 29F with a standard Boston shaker and 20F with our Fancy Man Shaker.

Yes, it's basically the exact same! When you make a cocktail, 99% of the dilution is due to the temperature difference between the ice and your other ingredients. Very little is related to heat traveling through the side wall of the shaker.

Even with a standard cocktail shaker, your hands getting cold is not the best way to know when to stop shaking. Let me explain...

Shaking a drink does three things:
1) Mixes your ingredients
2) Chills your drink
3) Dilutes your drink with melting ice

For most cocktails, your ingredients will be fully mixed and your drink already below freezing after just 3-5 seconds of hard shaking, right around the time your hands start to feel cold. However, depending how much dilution your drink needs, you will often need to continue shaking for another 3-5 seconds, past the point when your hands feel cold.

So, the best way to know when to stop shaking (regardless of what kind of shaker you're using) is actually how long and how hard you've been shaking for.

For most drinks, shaking vigorously for ~10 seconds is a good place to start.

Try it out, then add or subtract a few seconds in the future depending on how much dilution you like. After you've made a few drinks with the Fancy Man Shaker, you will quickly get used it and you won't even have to think about counting anymore.

The Stainless Steel (Silver) color is 100% dishwasher safe. For the Brushed Copper and Obsidian Black colors, we recommend hand washing just to be safe.
